KT-evLUCY expands electric vehicle fire prevention smart control charger

Establishment of communication environment and cooperation to expand infrastructure required for smart control chargers

KT's Jeonnam-Jeonbuk Headquarters (Director Designated Yong) announced on the 30th that it has signed a business agreement with Eve Lee-ru to expand electric vehicle fire prevention smart control chargers and support communication infrastructure.

As a countermeasure to the recent series of electric vehicle fire problems, electric vehicle smart control chargers can collect battery status information such as SoC of electric vehicle batteries, overcharge prevention control functions, and battery voltage, current, and temperature at regular cycles.

Through this business agreement, we plan to install a fire prevention PLC (Power Line Communication) communication modem in electric vehicle smart control chargers to support integrated operation of power supply, control, and various additional service information between electric vehicle and charging infrastructure using KT mobile communication network and cooperate to expand infrastructure.

EV Lee-Lu is a manufacturer of electric vehicle chargers in North Jeolla Province, developing and producing electric vehicle chargers ranging from 7 kW to 480 kW. It is leading the innovation of electric vehicle charging technology by developing products that make up eight 480 kW multi-station chargers for the first time in Korea this year.

Meanwhile, the government's target for supplying fire-preventing smart control chargers has quadrupled from 20,000 this year to 91,000 in 2025, and the new electric vehicle slow charger is expected to be equipped with a fire-preventing PLC communication modem from 2025.

Hong Chan-il, managing director of KT's Jeonbuk subsidiary, said, "By supplying PLC smart control chargers, we will relieve residents' anxiety about apartment electric vehicle fires and establish a communication network for 24-hour charging services."
